This comprehensive first chiropractic visit is generally best for problems of a moderate or higher severity and is only for New Patients or people we have not seen in a few years. It generally involved about 30 minutes with Dr. Eisen. It will include various types of examinations and possibly treatments if needed. It also includes a follow phone call or email after the visit if needed.
Here is what to expect in your first Chiropractic visit:
When you arrive for your first appointment you will be asked to fill out a health history. The purpose for taking your health history is to accumulate as much information about you and your condition as possible before you consult with the doctor. This information is vital to help us better serve you and will be reviewed by the doctor with you.
The purpose of the initial consultation is to create an environment for communication between you and your doctor. The doctor will take this time to get to know you, familiarize himself/herself with your condition and explain thoroughly what he proposes to do today. Later, if enough information is available, the doctor will discuss options and the overall treatment plan.
During the examination, the doctor will assess the condition of your spine and nervous system, looking specifically for vertebral subluxation. This will include a thorough neurological assessment utilizing reflex, muscle and skin sensation testing as well as very sophisticated, computerized electromyography (EMG). This technology allows us to quantify the level of electrical activity in the soft tissues surrounding your spine, know if it is normal or not and determine which areas of your spine are interfering with the function of your nervous system.
In addition, the doctor will perform a "hands on" palpatory assessment of the spine and it's motion and observe any postural abnormalities. As a result, the doctor will be able to specifically identify the level of subluxation.
Our practice is equipped with a state-of-the-art x-ray facility. We use high speed "rare earth" screens in order to minimize your x-ray exposure. While it is true that some doctors do not utilize x-ray, it is our opinion that the value of the information provided out weights the exposure to X-Rays. If you choose to not have an X-Ray performed please only advise us (you can also get this offer without an X-Ray included.) X-rays give us essential information about your condition and the health of your spine as well as identify those patients for whom chiropractic care is not indicated. Of course, we never x-ray pregnant women and only x-ray children when absolutely necessary. X-ray examination is vital to achieving optimal chiropractic care for your health condition.
Report of Findings
Depending on the need for additional testing or outside consultation, though generally within 24 hours, the Doctor will report to you what he has found only after thoroughly reviewing your history, examination and x-ray results. The doctor will then review his/her findings with you and outline the different care options available. If for some reason the doctor feels he/she will not be able to help you, you will be referred to someone who will.
First Chiropractic Adjustment - if warranted
The adjustment is the method by which we remove interference to the nervous system by restoring normal motion and alignment to the spine. Once an adjustment is performed, healing begins immediately.
This offering includes one adjustment if it is found to be necessary.
